Toadee is an app that lets you start a tab, order food and drinks, and pay your bill at participating bars, restaurants, and other hospitality venues. Toadee is a software platform; the venue you visit is your seller for any items you purchase.
When you save a card to your Toadee account, the card is tokenized and stored by Stripe — Toadee never sees or stores your full card number. Your saved card works at every venue using Toadee, charged via Stripe Connect with the venue receiving the net of each transaction. You may remove a saved card at any time in Profile → Payment Methods.
When the venue you are visiting is on Toadee's Free subscription tier, your tab includes a small "App Service Charge" line item. This is a platform fee — currently 2.0% of your subtotal plus a $0.30 fixed fee per closed tab (or 1.0% during the venue's first 14 days on Toadee). The charge is shown explicitly on your bill at checkout and on your emailed receipt. It is not a tip and does not go to the venue or its staff. Tabs at venues on Toadee's paid tiers (Basic, Pro) carry no App Service Charge — you pay only the venue's prices, tax, and any tip you choose to leave. The fee is never assessed on tax or tip; only on the subtotal of items ordered.
If you open a tab at a venue and leave without settling it (for example, the venue closes for the night, or you walk out without checking out), the venue may close your tab on your behalf and apply an automatic gratuity of up to 20% of your subtotal. You authorize this charge as part of placing your initial pre-authorization at check-in. The exact gratuity rate is set by each venue (capped by Toadee at 20%) and is shown on the receipt emailed to you at close.
When you check in at a venue, Toadee places a pre-authorization hold on your saved card for an amount set by that venue (default $50). This is not a charge — it is a temporary hold that ensures you can pay for what you order. The actual charge happens when your tab closes; any unused portion of the hold is released by your card issuer within 1–7 business days depending on your bank.
If you order alcohol through Toadee, the venue is required by law to verify you are of legal drinking age. You may be asked to present ID at the venue regardless of any in-app age verification. Toadee is not responsible for the venue's compliance with alcohol service laws.
You may delete your Toadee account at any time in Settings → Privacy. Toadee may suspend or terminate any account for fraudulent activity, harassment of venue staff or other patrons, or violation of these Terms or applicable law.
Toadee collects information necessary to provide the service: your account info, order history, location when you check in at a venue, and payment metadata (handled by Stripe). We do not sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
